Beginners may race three club meetings before being required to licence (race entry fee is
still applicable). This should give you an opportunity to see what it's all about.

After giving it a go you may decide to join the BMX Club and take up racing as a sport
then it would be necessary for you to obtain a licence.
There are several classes of licence which will be explained to you later.
The current BMXA licence fee's are $56.00 for club only and $76.00 for national, plus a club membership fee.
This covers rider insurance. Day Licences are $15 for one club day only

Race meetings are conducted all over the weekend.Usually club races are held either on a
Friday evening or Saturday afternoon, and larger events are held on a Sunday.

Club Racing is conducted in a format that is designed to give new riders a fair go by
grading riders based on their ability age and skill level along with racing clubs also
conduct regular training and coaching sessions.

When the time comes and you are considering buying your first racing bike and helmet it is
wise to consult with a more experienced club member as there are many different types of bikes
and helmets from which to choose. Most bike shops currently stock BMX parts and will increase
their range as the demand increases. At some of the larger open meetings there is usually some
very good second hand equipment for sale as well as Pro Shops selling the more specialised
items.
